Wireless Monitoring Applications: Pressure Monitoring
FEDD can employ any number of methods utilizing our unique devices to monitor pressure
data and transmit it wirelessly across the facility, and beyond. FEDD offers the total
wireless solution for capturing, transmitting and integrating pressure data economically,
across the plant, across the road, or across the continent. The performance, reliability,
integrity and service life of FEDD devices in the some of the most rigorous and congested
environments has been proven to be unequaled.
FEDD Pressure Monitoring Devices
FEDD single point pressure monitoring devices provide reliable and economical pressure data
acquisition and transmission in a single self-contained, self-powered unit. In areas where
AC power is limited or unavailable, the use of FEDD single point pressure monitoring and
transmitting devices allows economical acquisition and timely utilization of important physical
property data. These patented devices with operating ranges from 0 to 1000 psi as defined by the
specific application are self-powered or can be connected to existing loop power if available
(DC or AC) and have a self-transmitting range of ¾ mile. For longer transmission distance requirements,
the use of FEDD intelligent repeaters expands the effective transmission range to 7 miles plus.
For off-site transmission of critical data, the use of other methods can be incorporated into the data
integration system.
Other Pressure Monitoring Devices
Where loop powered pressure monitoring instruments are already in use and the output data is required at
remote locations, the use of FEDD single point wireless transmitters brings the signal to the control room
or wherever desired, without costly hard-wiring. FEDD can integrate data from other pressure monitoring devices
outputting analog (4/20 mA) or digital signals and transmit wirelessly using our single point transmitters powered
by battery or the existing loop. These devices have a range of ¾ mile which can be increased to 7 miles plus using
FEDD intelligent repeaters.
Multiple Pressure Monitoring Devices – By Others
In the instance where data from single or multiple devices monitoring pressure is required at remote locations,
the use of FEDD Remote Transmitting Units (RTUs) receiving either analog (4/20 mA), digital signals or other types of protocols (such as Modbus) from the
devices and transmitting wirelessly to the control room and/or other remote locations is the optimal solution,
economically and operationally. Where power is not available, FEDD RTUs, solar powered with battery backup, can
provide continuous power to any instrument designed to be loop powered. The RTU can also be equipped with an
independent alarm for reading a set of dry contacts. Utilizing FEDD RTUs, system expandability is virtually
unlimited. FEDD RTUs are unique in the industry, allow for virtually unlimited flexibility in the system, are
unequalled in performance and reliability and are among the most important technical advances in wireless data
acquisition, transmission and integration to date.
